ACADEMIC CURRICULUM
EEDP- Early Education Development Programme
Classes Nursery- II
DAV has been following the Early Education Development Programme since 1992 for classes Pre-School to II. It is a unique curriculum programme that focuses on the foundational years of schooling. It recognizes these years as the most critical years in education for the development of rudimentary skills, values and talents. We often think of curriculum as what is taught in the classroom. However, such thought is not appropriate for early childhood education; wherein curriculum constitutes everything that happens every day in school life.Young children learn from their daily experiences through experimentation, discovery and interactions with the environment. Therefore the curriculum must be experiential and filled with discoveries.
The objective of education in these four years is to create concrete and direct experiences for children to learn and grow. Learning should be made participative by involving children in individual and group play activities, using situations, themes and materials readily available in the immediate neighbourhood and environment. Technology plays an integral role in learning at DAV Nursery School and makes the teaching-learning process more effective and lucid.
Under the EEDP, the DAV Centre for Academic Excellence has designed a holistic curriculum to achieve the aim and vision of the EEDP. It includes all the areas of development and envisions an integrated pedagogy with inter-disciplinary themes. The curriculum consists of the following:
- LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
- Listening Skills

Evaluation
For EEDP, a formative and continuous format of evaluation is followed. Keeping in mind the nature of the curriculum, each and every activity in the abovementioned curriculum areas is recorded and assessed. The assessment across the disciplines is consolidated to create a personality profile for each child. There are no examinations till class 2, instead, worksheets, puzzles and evaluation sheets are given to children to assess understanding periodically.
